Governor Pat Quinn
has stopped the closure of
Pontiac Correctional Center! |

Thank you to everyone involved
in this effort, including
Senator Rutherford, Rep. Sommer,
Rep. Cultra, Mayor Stoecklin,
Livingston County Chairman Bill
Fairfield, Former Livingston
County Chairman Bill Flott,
Chamber President Cheri Lambert,
AFSCME Local 494, all of the
AFSCME members and their
families, and everyone else who
wrote letters to the governor,
placed calls, and participated
in Save Pontiac
Prison events over
the past year. It was a
community-wide effort by a lot
of people who made this happen.

This is
the SavePontiacPrison.com
web site. This site was created to keep
the public informed on the situation
regarding the closure of the Pontiac
Correctional Center.
I'm pleased to announce that Governor
Pat Quinn has stopped
the Pontiac Prison closure as of March
12, 2009!
Thank you to everyone who supported
keeping the Pontiac Prison open,
including Senator Rutherford, Rep.
Sommer, Rep. Cultra, County Chairman
Fairfield, Former County Chairman Flott,
Mayor Stoecklin, the Pontiac Chamber of
Commerce, AFSCME Local 494 and their
members and families, and everyone who
wrote letters to the governor's office,
placed calls, and participated in events
supporting Pontiac Correctional Center.
It was a community effort, and I thank
all of you for your hard work and
support.
